I am aware that there are over 1,000 codes and that you cannot implement them all (which would not make sense anyway), so we need a solution that allows us to transfer our own defined codes (which we naturally take from the specified list (standard EN 16931)) without you having to maintain them, thereby implementing only the standard codes.

That's exactly what we don't want. It's impossible to predict what units our customers will use. We can then configure these in the DB using standards and don't need to do anything else with the enum. Your approach would mean that we would have to modify the enum every time, even sorting it alphabetically and creating another PR. That's just ridiculous.

I understand the requirement. There was an approach (maybe even by you?) to use smart enums which I am still considering.
