Summary
Add Reseller Plans (packages), so that a reseller account can be created from a template with preset limits, in the same way User Packages work for normal users. Expose these through the API, so billing systems can sell and provision reseller hosting automatically.
Problem
Normal hosting accounts can be fully automated. A customer buys a plan in WHMCS or WiseCP, the billing system calls the API with the plan name, and OpenPanel creates the user with the limits from that plan.
Reseller accounts can't be sold the same way. Looking at the Resellers documentation, a reseller is created from Accounts > Resellers > Create New with only a username and a password. The limits (Max Accounts, Max Disk Usage, and which Hosting Plans the reseller can assign) are set afterwards, per reseller, in Edit Plans & Limits.
This means an administrator has to:
This makes selling reseller hosting a manual process, which doesn't scale and delays delivery to customers. It also means the reseller limits can drift out of sync with the product the customer actually bought.
Proposed solution
1. Reseller plans
A new section, for example Hosting Plans > Reseller Plans, where the administrator can create named plans that define:
2. Create a reseller from a plan
When creating a reseller, whether through OpenAdmin or the API, the administrator or billing system can choose a reseller plan. The limits are applied automatically.
3. API support
The API should allow:
With this in place, existing billing modules could add reseller product support, and a customer could buy a reseller plan and have an account ready within seconds.
4. Behaviour on plan change
When a reseller's plan changes, the new limits should apply to the reseller. If the new limits are lower than current usage (for example fewer allowed accounts than the reseller already has), the system should either block the downgrade with a clear message or leave existing accounts as they are and prevent new ones from being created.
