Hey there! We're a small team that is a fan of data and billing. Think of us an extension of @iceblocktech, our "official" company behind all this.

Why?

Billing is complex. Invoicing, subscriptions, refunds...

Traditionally, companies pick a billing vendor and start adding calls to the vendors APIs throughout the code. In the simple case, Stripe usually suffices (and we love Stripe). But once your SaaS offering scales beyond simple products and prices (or the kicks off inevitable "new pricing project"), you are stuck. What makes it worse is you are coupled to a vendor's APIs and your vendor now owns your billing data. These are not easy things to take back. You end up supporting two systems (legacy pricing and new pricing) and each time this happens, it gets progressively worse.

And that's not including things like entitlements, dunning, taxes, reporting

Our goal is to provide a modern billing tools where you own the infrastructure and data. We also want to make it so changes to pricing are not painful. Billing, like monitoring and analytics, is an observability platform and should be treated as such. We also believe that the industry moves forward not through proprietary software but with open source software.

Your sponsorship will allow us to work on our projects full time and bring a modern billing tools for everyone to use.

@vennbilling

This will lay the foundation of this project, allowing us to pay for better CI tools and paid GitHub Organization features.
