Hi, I'm George 👋

I'm a Professor of Computer Science at Loyola University Chicago, where I lead the Software and Systems Laboratory, and I'm a musician/pianist completing a degree in Music/Jazz Studies at same. The works where I seek sponsorship live at the intersection of computer science and music, and I release it as free, open-source software for anyone to use.

🎹 Music projects

• Jazz Scales Practice — see and hear every scale and mode, in all 12 keys, with interval patterns, swing feels, and your choice of instrument. Runs in the browser, installs as an app, and works offline. No ads, no accounts, no paywall. (And no plans to do any of these.)
• Practice materials — engraved, multi-key scale books (printable) and 12-bar blues studies (notation and audio), generated reproducibly from code.

💻 Computer science projects

• Software and Systems Laboratory — open-source research software, tools, and demonstration projects.
• Open-source textbooks, built from decades of teaching: Introduction to Computer Science in Python, Introduction to Operating Systems, and Distributed Systems.
