Sirius is a GPU-native composable analytics engine under the Apache-2.0 license. Governance is intentionally minimal and will formalize as the project grows, with the goal of eventually moving under a neutral open source foundation.
- Contributors. Anyone can open and contribute to issues and pull requests, including reviewing others' pull requests. See CONTRIBUTING.md.
- Maintainers are trusted contributors who can approve and merge contributions, make technical decisions, manage the maintainer base, and enforce the CODE_OF_CONDUCT.md. They decide by lazy consensus, falling back to a majority vote of maintainers when necessary. See MAINTAINERS.md.
- A maintainer opens a nomination issue with a short rationale and links to representative work (reviews and design input, not only authored PRs).
- A nomination is approved after seven calendar days with support from at least two maintainers other than the nominator, and no unresolved objections. Support and objections are recorded as comments on the issue.
- On approval, a pull request adds the person to MAINTAINERS.md and access is granted.
Signals we look for: sustained contribution, sound judgment in review and design discussion, and reliability.
A maintainer may step down by opening a pull request moving themselves to the emeritus list in MAINTAINERS.md. Maintainers who have been inactive for a year may be moved to emeritus by other maintainers through a PR. In rare cases, such as Code of Conduct violation, a maintainer may be removed by a majority vote of the other maintainers.
