CanvasShield is a browser extension designed to detect and report canvas fingerprinting attempts by websites. This privacy policy explains what information CanvasShield collects, how it's stored, and your rights regarding this data.
CanvasShield collects the following information:
- URLs of websites that attempt canvas fingerprinting
- Timestamps when fingerprinting attempts occur
- Methods used for canvas fingerprinting (e.g., toDataURL, getImageData)
- Domain names extracted from the URLs
All data collected by CanvasShield is:
- Stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API
- Never transmitted to external servers or third parties
- Not synced across your devices
- Accessible only to you through the extension's interface
CanvasShield uses the collected data exclusively to:
- Display fingerprinting detection information in the extension popup
- Generate visual charts showing fingerprinting activity over time
- Show which domains are most frequently attempting to fingerprint your browser
- Alert you when the website you're currently visiting has attempted fingerprinting
You have complete control over your data:
- View all collected data through the extension's interface
- Export data as CSV for your personal records at any time
- Clear all stored data immediately using the "Clear History" button
- Toggle fingerprinting detection on or off with a single click
CanvasShield does not:
- Share any data with third parties
- Use any analytics or tracking services
- Transmit any data outside your browser
- Use your data for any purpose other than showing you fingerprinting attempts
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the extension and provide notice of the changes when you next open the extension.
