Better performance with Armoury Crate

What's wrong?

I recently installed AC to update the firmware on a few of my devices and noticed a couple of things I wanted to share.

Fan control:
While AC doesn’t allow changing fan behavior per profile (except for Manual), I noticed that it lets the fans run at a lower RPM. In the default profiles, GHelper keeps the fans at a minimum of around 2200 RPM, whereas AC allows them to run at about 1800 RPM.

Performance:
I’ve also noticed better performance overall. I currently play only two games: The Crew Motorfest and Doom Eternal.

In The Crew Motorfest, CPU frequency with GHelper in Balanced mode usually stays around 2.2 GHz (rarely hitting 2.4 GHz). With AC, it consistently runs around 2.8–3.0 GHz.

In Doom Eternal, CPU frequency during combat is around 1.6–1.8 GHz with only GHelper, but with AC installed it stays above 2.0 GHz.

Power profiles:
After installing AC, I noticed that it creates separate Windows power profiles for each use case. There are distinct profiles for Silent, Balanced, and Turbo when using a PD charger, as well as Silent, Balanced, and Turbo when using the default charger. These profiles are visible in the Windows Control Panel.

How to reproduce the bug?

1. Make a full install of AC (Armoury Crate Full Installation Package - https://www.asus.com/supportonly/armoury%20crate/helpdesk_download/).
2. Turn On asus services
3. Install AC
4. Quit Ghelper

I made a fresh windows install to further test it. Did not save the logs

Additional information.

I have yet to test the battery life, but from the data I currently have, the battery life is almost the same -25 min at worst.

@alantoblooddy hello, this was answered multiple times before.

G-Helper is not controlling the fans, it's not keeping them at certain RPM.. You are likely not using all default profile then (for example, you have power limits or something else enabled). Click Factory Defaults to ensure all custom settings are OFF and you will get same behavior as for exactly same mode in AC.

CPU clocks drastically depend on active power mode, in AC most of the modes (except Silent) use Best Performance mode (as part of it's custom power plans), so set it to Best Performance (or even High Performance Plan) instead of Balanced under Fans + Power and you will get higher clocks. Even tho it's not needed for real-life usage.

Thank you, Seerge, for the reply. I will do some testing and will report back. Just in case, is there any specific data or software I should run in the background to help you analyze the data, besides the Ghelper Log?
