Upload more than one image at a time?

I don't know if the API even allows doing this differently, but I have the following problem:

I want to use the notification plugin that tells people by email if new images are uploaded. If I upload the images using the Aperture plugin, an email is sent for every single image I upload. As I normally upload several hundred images when I update my gallery, the notification plugin is simply unusable.

Is it possible for the plugin to upload the images of one export in a batch?
