Excuse the really blunt question, but what is disco doing differently from the well established https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/external-dns?
Regarding OpenStack Designate integration there is the push to remove the in-tree providers and thus we wrote a new webhook provider (https://github.com/inovex/external-dns-openstack-webhook), listed at https://github.com/kubernetes-sigs/external-dns?tab=readme-ov-file#new-providers.

Disco happened to exist ~2 years before external-dns had a designate provider.
