Limit annotations on text

I generally followed this guide on linking to enable internal and external links (plus one more kind of link for my use case) on our CMS.

A problem we ran into is content authors accidentally linking the same block of text with different types of links. It's an edge case for sure, but it'd be cool to have a way to limit annotations selected. That way, content authors would see as they try to double link something, that it isn't the correct way to achieve what they want. Thoughts?
