Hello.

Is the Nemerle language dead?

It appears to me that no significant updates are being pushed to the language anymore; not by JetBrains, nor by other volunteers (e.g. the RSDN). There are no Nemerle plugins for VS beyond 2017, and documentation on and tutorials for the language are scarce.

I think that the Nemerle language has incredible potential, so to see it fade into obscurity and suffer the same fate as Boo is truly sad. Is anyone currently using Nemerle or working on the language? If so, how is it going?

Once I've grasped the fundamentals of coding and am ready to dive into compiler study, I'll be more than happy to stop by and help out with the language where I can. Until then, I fear I will not be of much help in regards to Nemerle, but I will continue to stick around for any potential updates.

While I will not be able to do anything with these pointers myself for the time being (not until I'm good enough at programming), I think that it might be a good idea for those still involved with Nemerle in some way to think about where new contributors and helpers could start and how the language's maintenance and support could be updated / revived, just like what happened in the Boo community (see link above). After all, helping out on a FOSS project is far easier if you know where to start and what parts of the project need attention.

I'm hoping that, eventually, we might be able to breathe new life into this programming language. If we come across the right people, I do believe that it is possible. To anyone currently using Nemerle or working on the language itself, good luck!
