"Display" button doesn't regularly check or get updates on the actual state

If two or more people are using the UI, the display button can be highlighted (showing scoreboard up) when the scoreboard is actually down, or vice versa. This mismatch seems to persist more or less indefinitely or until it syncs up again by dumb luck. There should probably be some polling mechanism to keep things in sync.
