It would be useful to be able to select nodes from an XML via a A.B.C... for certain things such as records, officials, etc.

I guess going along with this would be a button to grab SOG from said XML and put in the SOG graphic. I wouldn't want this to try and auto update when the XML changes, but the user should be able to cue an update.
