How to increase font size for waybar?

I'm very sorry for asking duplicate questions, but I cannot figure out what to do after reading the answers in FAQ and other discussions.

All these answers mentioned the file ~/.config/waybar/config.ctl, but I don't have it under ~/.config/waybar. I've checked Waybar and HyDE's official wikis and failed to find any useful information about this file. Yeah I know this might sound stupid, but I'm totally new to both HyDE and waybar :(

So what am I supposed to configure in config.ctl to set the font size for waybar? Many thanks in advance to anyone who's willing to help!

I just downloaded hydenix two days ago and I'm on the main branch (inputs.hydenix.url set to "github:richen604/hydenix" in flake.nix). I've also tried nix flake update hydenix right now, and nothing got updated. So I guess I'm running the newest version.

did you by chance have a waybar folder previously? is home-manager complaining? journalctl -b | grep hm-activate

i wouldn't normally recommend this but you can just copy the file directly from the hyde repo for now to have something working

Wait... So config.ctl actually refers to config.jsonc? I thought they were different files. But I tried filling config.ctl with contents modified from config.json, and that didn't work as expected. Confusing

I could increase the font size of waybar by editing ~/.config/waybar/user-style.css with:

}

Well, editing user-style.css works, though I'm not sure if it's the best practice. I added

home.file.".config/waybar/user-style.css" = lib.mkForce {
  source = ./user-style.css;
};

to forcefully overwrite the original value set here

i made a nix option for user-style.css, unsure if i should do anything crazy for css validation
im also working on options for selecting and adding new layouts, etc. similar for modules

let me know if yall would like anything like this to make customizing easier
i don't want users to have to use home.file for everything

Yeah, a unified nix interface is more user-friendly. By the way, I also found myself having to manually overwrite ./config/hypr/hypridle.conf to modify the lock screen timeout. Maybe it's better to expose more options to all these config files, or at least making them as nix options with default values (instead of hard-coded sources)?

for hyprland this would work as i could put "extraConfig" as users can overwrite hyprland options. ill do this for hypridle, userprefs already has one, hyprlock has a profile selector so that needs more work
