ogg files are skipped

Hi,
first thanks for making kew, i love it so much <3

Recently i have the problem, that kew skips ogg files.
It tries to load them, and then jumps to the next song.
Flac and mp3 runs fine, i only saw this with ogg so far.

A friend who also uses kew, has the same problem.

My data:
Debian SID
kew 3.7.3 arm64

My friend uses:
Debian Trixie
kew 3.2.0 amd64

If you need some debug output please tell me how i do that, i did search the repo/man page but i didn't found an option for enabling debug output ^^v

Thank you for reporting this. My ogg files work fine. It would help if you could send a sample ogg file that doesn't work to kew-player@proton.me.

Can i somehow get kew more talkative? Either log to a file or to stdout?

you can compile it with DEBUG=1

make clean
make DEBUG=1 -j4

but not much is logged.

Okay, this is very interesting.. i removed the debian package
compiled it from source.. and now it works ^^v

edit:
as a double check i now unistalled the compiled kew, and installed it again via apt..
broken again.. its really the package lol XD

hm, I can repro this. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:%22Into_the_Oceans_and_the_Air%22.ogg does not play. It's weird though, as we link against libogg-dev and that should just work

@YokaiRick can you file this in the debian bug tracker for the package. I have a trixie machine at my disposal (not my main workstation), and I will test also.

@werdahias, I added a debug statement to the ogg playback function. It should print something like

"ogg file switched to next, cursor=45460 totalframes=7100070" in a file called error.log.

I could just include this in the next version, and verify myself, but the thing is it requires building with DEBUG=1 to be printed. And error.log is created in the same directory as kew when debug is enabled, so it would throw an error. Is there a way you could run the develop branch of kew in a test package and see if that prints when running ogg files, because it would really help pin down what's causing this. Or instruct me how to (I don't know a whole lot about packaging tbh).

@werdahias there are a few tiny changes to the miniaudio that kew is using. It could be the source of the issue, since the debian package uses an external dependency. You could try using the miniaudio included in kew, see if that solves the issue.

I will try to add the changes upstream to miniaudio, let's see how it goes. maybe using an external dependency will be enough later on.

Actually nevermind, those changes are probably not affecting ogg files. I have submitted a PR to miniaudio in any case.

I found the culprit:

mackron/miniaudio#1098

It's because getting total frames for ogg files is not implemented in the official miniaudio, and that function is used in kew. The debian package uses the official miniaudio not the modified one included in kew.
