Pandas 3.0 Copy-on-Write

first, a huge thanks for mlxtend. this is a vastly useful library.

pandas has decided to move towards copy-on-write. i am not sure which changes are required for this library. now there are warnings that the current functionality will break with the introduction of pandas 3.

@rasbt are there any plans to update mlxtend to support pandas 3?

Hi there, thanks for the kind words and heads-up. I think it'd be a good idea to update it some time before pandas 3 is released. Unfortunately, I am currently super busy with other projects, but I can add it to my list

perfect. this sounds good. unfortunately, i am not a pandas professional. i could try to prepare a pull request to upgrade fpmax, so the warnings are gone. however, i must admit that i don't really know what i am doing. would this help?

Thanks for offering! Actually, it might be fine. I was making updates for a yearly maintenance release, and I think the changes in #1137 should take care of this issue
