What are Primitives and how do we use them?

Answering Krau5's questions from a Discrod thread.

I have also a few questions related to primitives and its usage. Why are we using them? Why do we need them? How do we identify if some part should become a primitive or not? I do not see any benefits from this approach. If you use <Primitive.button />, it'll have the same behavior as , but the typehints won't work at all (because Primitive and its sub-components are of type any), which complicates the development process by a lot.

Primitives are basically reusable components, like buttons, spans, divs that come with additional features - with support for props like asChild to be specific - we can add more common functionalities that we want the library to support inside primitive so we avoid re-inventing ourselves coding the same features in multiple places

Doing this and writing tests in one places means we push out more stable and predictable code that we can be confident about.

Regarding primitives, we initially considered having them as independent components like TogglePrimitive and ButtonPrimitive. However, with the introduction of Primitive.button, this approach feels somewhat redundant. We're currently evaluating how to make the API more flexible and intuitive and would appreciate any feedback or suggestions on this matter.
