Quarkus Panache integration with Postgis? #50756

I have found several ways of using spacial info inside panache entities and not sure which one is the most realiable. Which classes should I use for Points and what dependencies should I be adding? Here's my current pom.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>

Panache is based on Hibernate ORM, which in turn offers the I strongly suggest reading the extension's documentation chapter within the Hibernate ORM user guide, you will find a lot more details to help you with your decision there. |

@mbellade thanks for the reply! I only installed the hibernate-spatial according to the hibernate version found in <dependency>

</dependency>(btw how would i always make sure the versions are synced?) and rewrote my entity's longitude and latitude attributes: @Column(columnDefinition = "geometry(Point,4326)")

@mbellade do you think it would be easy to cook up an integration test in Quarkus for hibernate-spatial and (critically) postgis? Once we have that, we can reasonably add hibernate-spatial to Quarkus' BOM. |

Should be easy enough, yeah, we would just need to spin-up a PostGIS image instead of a normal PostgreSQL one; once we have that, the test itself would be pretty trivial. Should I open an improvement issue? |

hibernate-spatialextension, which comes with PostGIS support. The extension can be used with two different geometry models on the Java side: JTS or geolatte-geom.I strongly suggest reading the extension's documentation chapter within the Hibernate ORM user guide, you will find a lot more details to help you with your decision there.
