JPA AttributeConverter is not CDI aware

I read that after JPA 2.2, AttributeConverter are CDI aware so you can use Inject annotation.

I developed an AttributeConverter:

@Converter
public class DeterministicEncryptionAttributeConverter implements AttributeConverter<String, String> {

    @Inject
    Encrypter encrypter;

    @Inject
    Decrypter decrypter;

And my PanacheEntity:

@Entity
public class Question extends PanacheEntity {

    @Column(length = 65_535)
    public String question;

    @Column(length = 256)
    @Convert(converter = DeterministicEncryptionAttributeConverter.class)
    public String round;

But when I call persist I got a NPE because instance is not injected.

Is it normal? A bug? Maybe as a workaround I need to switch to Repository pattern?

With Repository pattern fails as well
