How to use the Pins on the Poke module?

I am hoping to use the POKE module and interface with an arduino without using the pycontrol board, but I can't seem to get a signal from the poke module using the PINOUT. I am not using the solenoid so the pins I connected were 12V, GND, SIG, 12V. Nothing I seem to do works, I can't get a signal from SIG its just outputting a constant zero voltage +- .02V. Any tips to get it to work?

If you want to read the beam break signal, you will need to provide 5V, GND and access sig-A

5V and GND can easily be connected using the blue pinout header which I think is what you have been connecting to before. Unfortunately, the beam-break signal (sig-A) that you want is not routed to the blue header.

To access the sig-A you could

• solder a wire onto one of those pads
• connect one end of a CAT 5 cable to the poke, and cut/strip the wires on the other end.
• connect one end of a CAT 5 cable to the poke, connect the other end to a RJ45 breakout. There is the pyControl port adapter that has labeled pins and screw terminals, or you could use any standard RJ45 breakout

The RJ45 pins you would connect are

• sig-A : pin 1
• GND: pin 2
• 5V: pin 6
