Planning Review Process
Instructions for this process will be detailed below. If you have any questions, please reach out to Brian or Mary. You will be working most closely with the analyst(s) and webpage developer(s) who are working on your specific theme/indicator(s).
This should provide some context and background so that you know where your review fits into the broader process. Your work will begin at step 4. This is the same information presented in the Equity Tracker Process Overview page on the GitHub Wiki.
- Data visualization and drafting of insights: Data analyst will obtain the data set related to their indicator. They will run some quality checks, descriptive statistics, and transform the data as needed. Once the data is in the correct form, they will generate 3 visuals (regional map, column chart, and line chart) and draft key take aways
- Data review: Another member in the Equity Tracker project team (in data) will review the analyst's data analysis/interpretations and edit/add comments as needed. This step may require some discussion between the data reviewer and the analyst.
- Drafting webpage: Webpage developer will take the finalized draft (after all comments and edits have been resolved between data reviewer and analyst) and migrate the material to a draft webpage
- Planning review: A member of the planning team that is familiar with the theme/indicator will review the draft webpage. They will record any comments or edits in the designated form. This step may require some discussion between the planning reviewer and the analyst and/or webpage developer.
- Update draft webpage: Webpage developer will take any edits/comments made by the planning reviewer and integrate them into the draft webpage
You will be working across 3 locations:
You will be viewing the draft webpage as a reviewer. Because the webpages have not been published yet, you will require the reviewer username/password. The login information will be sent to you in an email, along with some supplemental links.
We are using the Y drive (Y:\Equity Indicators\tracker-webpage-content) as a way to organize our project materials. We are organizing this main folder into thematic subfolders. They are ordered by letters to reflect the same sequence as in VISION 2050, with the following format: X-theme. Within each thematic folder, there is a subfolder for each indicator, with the following format: X##-indicator-name (the first part of the folder name includes the corresponding thematic letter, then the numbering system starts at 01, and the indicators are loosely ordered based on their relevance).
The form you will use to review the webpage content will be within the indicator folder. It will include the alpha-numeric code corresponding to the theme/indicator and it has the following format: X##-webpage-review.docx (for example, Y:\Equity Indicators\tracker-webpage-content\f-economy\f01-median-income\f01-webpage-review.docx).
We are keeping track of the indicators and our progress in a spreadsheet on Teams (Teams: Equity Tracker > General > Files > Indicator Selection Process > IndicatorResearch_08222023).
- Access PSRC draft indicator webpage using the login information provided in an email
- Open X##-webpage-review.docx from Y drive indicator folder (address listed above in Y drive section above)
- Fill out your name, date, and any comments or suggestions you may have about the webpage content - if anything is confusing please note that in the form
- Once you have completed your review, please update the last tab (Production & Review) by finding the reviewed indicator and adding an 'X' in the appropriate columns (O-P) of the spreadsheet on Teams
- Let the analyst/webpage developer know that you have completed your review
- Although you have completed your reivew, stay tuned! The analyst and/or webpage developer may need to ask you to clarify one of your commments or may want to work with you to workshop phrasing or a concept
