This theme is sensitive. Making changes will not indicate if you were nearby explicitly.
When making changes to OpenStreetMap, roughly indicate how far away you were from the changed objects. This helps other contributors to understand how you made the change [disabled icon]
Save the visited thematic maps and sync them via openstreetmap.org. OpenStreetMap and all apps you use can see this history

I find this very surprising and not ok. Given basic principles, and the privacy statement, I expect that when I look at something there might be an API fetch of it, but I do not expect any kind of history to leave the device. I can see why someone might want to enable this, but I don't think it's ok to be on by default. I certainly did not understand this from reading the privacy statement.
But, I disabled "write user prefs" when authorizing, following the Principle of Least Privilege, and it seems that avoids the writes succeeding.
