A free Proton Mail is ad-free, fully end-to-end encrypted, and easy to use. Email trackers are blocked by default. The free account allows for 1 GB of storage and one email address for one user.
Paid plans offer more storage, email addresses, and some additional features.
I have been using a paid Proton Mail account for a few years now. It works well on a Mac.
