Support for Laravel Blade Template Syntax in Phoenix Code

I’m proposing adding support for Laravel Blade Template Syntax in Phoenix Code. This would greatly benefit developers building full-stack applications by providing more robust templating capabilities.
Would love to get your thoughts and feedback!

Hi @popinnovationsinc . Thanks for the feature request. Do you mean to support syntax coloring or code hints? If the file extension is php, syntax coloring should work or is something missing?

Hi there @abose! Thanks for following up. I’m specifically looking to have both syntax coloring and code hints for Laravel Blade directives (e.g., @if, @endif, @foreach, etc.) in .blade.php files. While the Blade files technically use PHP, they also contain unique templating structures and directives that aren’t fully supported by standard PHP syntax highlighting.

In Laravel Blade templates, $user->user_first_name is a PHP property access operator (the -> symbol), not raw HTML. However, phoenix code environments (or certain linters configured for them) incorrectly interpret > as raw HTML that needs to be escaped (>). They log false errors that read "Raw '>' must be encoded as '>' (no-raw-characters)" and are a nuisance.

In a standard PHP/Blade project, we do not encode the -> operator, because it’s valid PHP syntax. Converting it to -> breaks the code, Resulting in a syntax error: "syntax error, unexpected token '&'"

It would be nice if Phoenix Code would support inline Blade/PHP property operators out of the box, when the file type is PHP.

Looks like codemirror 5 doesn't support Laravel yet https://codemirror.net/5/mode/index.html . We may have to write something on our own to add support when we do php code intelligence.
