Why did the devs delete assets? #3930

Probably only the devs can answer this question, but I'm genuinely curious. So I'm using macOS Tahoe and was considering making an icon for this app with Icon Composer for the new macOS version. However, I noticed that the devs for some reason deleted most of the files in the assets directory, where the icon would have gone (commits shown below). And I don't quite understand it, since it makes the build process fail (in fact, the build.yml workflow has failed for every single commit since the one that deleted the assets). I initially thought that this was done to migrate to a more recent version of some dependency, but it's been one week and the assets haven't been added back in. Does anyone know why this was done? Obviously it's not a massive issue, but the current icon doesn't quite fit in macOS Tahoe, so I was hoping to contribute.

Just a hunch but I suspect some licensing issues from YouTube itself? Probably also some API changes which is why the Downloader also doesn't work anymore #3926 #3875 #3876 , and then the whole recent app rebranding to ytmd... seems suspicious. I could be wrong though. |
