Getting precise elapsedSeconds from API server

Just wondering if a change could be made to get precise seconds with a decimal (i.e. 5.231 seconds) from the API server's /api/v1/song endpoint? There must already be somewhere in the code to get higher accuracy "elapsed time" timestamps since that's what enables precise Synced Lyrics timings, so I wish that can be made available to API plugin.
