Not workin after a while - parse issue?

This extension is great.

However it has a huge problem.. After a while the mentions dont work anymore.

At first, mentioning works great. But after a while they appear like a non-existent BBCODE.

If I edit the message and click submit, the issue is solved (for a while, until it isn't anymore)

How can we fix this? I use PHP 8.3 and phpbb 3.3.14.
