OFFICIAL ATOM 2?

This seems a whole lot like our good old friend Atom, anyone else agree that this might be Atom 2?

Not sure exactly what you're saying.

This is certainly a fork of Atom. At times we've considered whether certain changes are big enough to warrant bumping the major version, but the Atom maintainers seemed to envision that Atom 2 would break backward compatibility of packages. (The default version of a generated package is something like >=1 <2.) A large portion of the goal of keeping Atom going is to preserve the existing package ecosystem, so we don't want to bump the major version and implicitly create headaches like these.

But I suspect that isn't what you mean by “Atom 2.” If you just mean “a continuation of Atom”… then, yes!
