If compiling mp all is ok , but resetting the board gives this message : MicroPython f498a16-dirty on 2025-04-16; Raspberry Pi Pico 2 W with RP2350
Type "help()" for more information

Why is the number + dirty shown instead of the version number ?

Did you include the tags when you updated/pulled the repository? What the result of git tag? You can get the tags with:
git pull --tags origin master, assuming that origin is the name of the remote repository.
The -dirty could go away by updating the submodules with git submodule sync; git submodule update --init.

recompiled ... -> no change , still number-dirty

I would not be concered about the dirty flag.
