This issue is still ongoing. EDIT: It does appear to be a little different now, however. The series that have metadata (IMDB tags, etc) can be updated individually if I force them to refresh metadata. Attempting to refresh metadata for the entire library does not work and I have to refresh every show individually and this only works if I replace all metadata and replace all images. Also, it seems like a lot of series that previously had IMDB tags, etc, no longer do. |

At first I thought it was an issue with mkv files, but upon further research, I learned that there should be no problems with mkv files and the problem was affecting all new series added to my Shows Library.
The problem is this: After the update to the new database format with 10.11.x, anything new I added to a Jellyfin media library of content type Shows would not get added to the database and not appear in the webgui. Everything I had previously remained available, until I decided to try removing the library and recreating it. Now, everything I had previously in the Shows library is available, as if the database somehow remembered it all, but it has no metadata and will not even pick up screen captures to display.
This problem only seems to affect libraries of type Shows. Movie libraries and Mixed Movies and Shows libraries appear to be working correctly. I created a test library of type Mixed and added a series to it. While it has no metadata because the series has no imdb or moviedb tags, Jellyfin has extracted screencaps to apply to the episodes in the Mixed library, while everything in the Shows library remains with the default blue box with monitor symbol.
I made a thread about it on the official Jellyfin forum a few months ago and I've been too busy to reset my github password in order to post here until now. I've also been hoping the problem would just get patched without me having to do anything. Unfortunately, it did not.
Since Jellyfin is able to apply screencaps to the same series in a library with assigned type Mixed Movies and Shows but not in a library with assigned type Shows, I have to conclude that this is an issue with the way the Shows type library scans media. As indicated in my thread, I'm potentially not the only one experiencing this issue.
Does anyone here have any suggestions, work-arounds or solutions?
