Size Variables should support Custom Units

Description

Like the new global size variable but it only supports units of px, rem, % etc. I want to be able to have a clamp() function declared as a global size variable. For example:

:root {
    --space-m: clamp(1rem, calc(1.36vw + 0.73rem), 1.75rem);`
} 

This would enable me to use that global size variable for padding, margin, gap etc., and gives me just one place to edit it to make changes to the entire site. Similarly for font-size. I see there is the ability to add a css function with fx but that doesn't give me global control. Pretty please.

I believe it already does. Have you tried pasting this into the size field?

You should find a pencil in the dropdown where it says px, or no?

Thanks. Yes I can see that. But by doing so I have hard coded the clamp function into the font-size. Lets say I keep pasting that multiple times and then I want to change the clamp setting. I would have to edit it in all those places. I could create a global class to assign the font size with a clamp function but take the example I gave of a global size variable representing a space which I could use for padding, margin and gap. I want to be able to control all of that using one global size variable. These isn't hypothetical, its how I build websites today with Elementor Editor v3.

Using Custom Units for Size Variables is something that we are currently researching and working on.

For now, we want to ensure the feature is working correctly before we implement Custom Units, since those will require deeper validation.

I am merging this discussion with #33216 because it includes all Variables, not only Size Variables, and it should be more in line with our research.

We will consider both discussion when deciding if we are going to implement this or not.

Just to keep things organized, we want avoid having duplicates.
