UX Workflow Regression: Streamlining the '+New' Item Creation Process for browser extension

Greetings! The new UX looks fantastic overall, and I appreciate the visual improvements. However, I'd like to provide feedback about the new "+New" button interaction pattern.

Issue: Increased Click Friction

In the legacy UI:

1. Single-click workflow - Users could directly access the "create new item" interface with one click
2. Smart defaults - The default "Login" category (likely the most frequent use case) allowed immediate creation
3. Optional selection - Choosing alternative categories (credit card/note/etc.) required only 2 additional clicks (3 total)

In the current implementation:

• Mandatory two-click initiation for all item types creates unnecessary friction, particularly for frequent login creation

Suggested Improvement

Proposed workflow refinement:

Current: [Click +New] → [Category Selection] → [Detail Page]
Proposed: [Click +New] → [Detail Page with Category Chooser]
 (Replace drop-down-selection with 1-click button, to switch template within one click)

Implementation details:

1. Direct entry to detail page via single click
2. Inline category selection through 4/5 prominent buttons:
   • Login (default active state)
   • Credit Card
   • Secure Note
   • Id
   • Folder (?)
3. Visual hierarchy maintained through:
   • Primary button for default (Login)
   • Secondary buttons for alternatives
   • Clear visual distinction between active/inactive states

Benefits

• Maintains one-click efficiency for common use cases
• Preserves category selection capability
• Reduces cognitive load through spatial memory retention
• Aligns with progressive disclosure principles
