• figure out how to set swap size based on rpi-swap #2091
• comitup hotspot is not working
  opened comitup fails on trixie RPi davesteele/comitup#269
• check for/replace bookworm in repo names

I'd need to do a little more research, but beyond us trying to test it personally, I'm not exactly sure.

Install standard openHABian image, change repos to trixie then apt-get dist-upgrade ?
Not sure if that'll be worth the effort, but if we wait until Raspi foundation releases its first trixie OS image, it's likely gonna be a lot more hectic.

Yeah probably something like that would be good. I currently don't have a lot of free time to do that, but maybe this weekend I can try and get some testing in.

Do we already know if Raspi OS Trixie will be available for 32 bit?
AFAIK Debian Trixie is only available for 64 bit systems.
I have not seen a statement about Raspi OS yet, did you?

No.
Trixie will remove 32bit support fir x86 but no statement on ARM and no image so far for RPi.

@ecdye if you have some free time to spend check out how trixie Raspi OS handles swap now.
Seems they moved to something zram based.
There's also a systemd-zram-generator package maybe worth looking.

Yeah, I'll try and look at it sometime in the next week.

To be honest, I haven't been able to do a ton of research, however, just looking at the new swap package, it seems like just changing our settings to no longer configure zram on swap and just letting the new builtin package do it seems like the best option.

It will probably be better maintained and have better performance in the long run because its tuned to the RPi and it is a part of the main system, and I'm always in favor of using sensible builtin packages when it makes sense.

Essentially we can just use their builtin for swap and then keep using our zram for folders on the side and I don't think they should conflict.

I forget, is there any reason we need to be setting the swap size manually, or would we be fine to just let it use the defaults that it has.

No. IIRC it was because we moved swap to zram so had to define a size.
Let's leave that to the system .
