For nodes not close to a dedicated Offworld Lab ADS-B receiver, a feed from a global ADS-B network can be used with adsb2dd.
Most likely, adsb.lol is the best option, as there is a free to use API service, no signup and no rate limit.: api.adsb.lol
One of the api calls will return all the aircraft (and presumably all the broadcast data) within a given radius from a point, up to 250 nautical miles away.
Requesting this about once per second should be sufficient, and maybe a radius of 40 nautical miles.
