Custom clasp depth

Thanks for amazing project! I'm yet to find how you've managed to create such smooth animation (Is that due to manifold capabilities? AFAIK such speed isn't possible with OpenCascade)

The clasp seems to be designed for 3.7-4.3mm. But isn't the typical skadis board 5.25 thick? At least that's what I see most models are aming for (https://www.printables.com/model/271676-skadis-thickness-testers)

I got a bit lucky there; generating the model (even with many clips) takes 3 to 5ms on hardware from 3-4 years ago which makes it (IMO) just good enough for real time rendering! This used to take 10 to 15ms but a recent update of manifold somehow sped things up. Might look into optimizing things if the models get more complicated but so far no one has complained :)

I designed the clips a couple years ago after measuring my boards at home and experimenting with different values; these are the ones that fit best with my painted boards from this particular store.

Did you try the clips on your boards? Are they too loose? Would be happy to add a setting for custom depth, might need a recording or something just to get an idea of where the issue comes from!

No, I don't have any yet. I'm planning to cut custom size on CNC (e.g https://www.printables.com/model/206256-parametric-skadis-board-generator/comments) and trying to find right matetial. As I understand so far, 5mm plywood would be the right choice.

Also, manifold should be capable of generating 2d dxf for cnc and laser cutters, so it might be good idea to add such generator right in skapa - what do you think?

I actually already have a branch with a SKADIS panel board, which I used to generate this infinite board: https://bsky.app/profile/nmattia.bsky.social/post/3liuf457c5k2k

That being said, I'm not sure how things would work out from a legal standpoint, providing models for DIY IKEA products like a 1:1 SKADIS board...

Another issue is that the clips (clasps) are designed to work with IKEA's chamfered holes, not sure how it would work on a laser-cut panel!
