Aerospace will treat this small tips as a regular window and try to layout it. This issue doesn't exit in v0.16.2-Beta

Why is it a problem if windows are still floating?

The is the icon what I meant. I captured this picture on v0.16.2-Beta. I can't capture it on v0.17 because the tips will be moved to somewhere and then disapear immmeditaly.

Sorry, I can't reproduce it. I agree that they are detected as windows starting from 0.17.0, but they are floating by default. I think you have layout tiling in your on-window-detected in aerospace.toml

oh, that probably because I have rules for Firefox. I float everything and tiling only a few apps.

Thank you, now I get it. The less invasive approach would be to filter out Firefox first and then make everything else floating.

I myself only now realize that layout floating + check-further-callbacks = true is flawed. And I agree that it should be better documented.

Developer of yabai here. If you are struggling to restrict AeroSpace from managing tooltip windows and w/e because they report as AXRole AXWindow through the API, you need to look at window levels:

These are all publicly documented and supported APIs that you can use.
They are not as efficient/performant and nice to use as the private APIs, but should allow you to add better filtering.

So far I'm pleasantly surprised by how far one can go with the heuristics over close/minimize/maximize/zoom buttons, but I might wanna try the functions you mention.
