Description
User Story
As a researcher, I want each hypothesis separated by outcome and include clear null and alternative statements so that the study's analytical framework is unambiguous and testable.
Description
Currently, hypotheses may be grouped or combined, making it difficult to associate each with specific outcomes. To improve clarity and statistical rigor, each hypothesis should be presented individually for each outcome, specifying:
- Null hypothesis (H₀): No effect or association.
- Alternative hypothesis (H₁): Expected effect or association.
Proposed Flow
- Identify all outcomes measured in the study.
- Separate existing hypotheses according to each outcome.
- For each outcome, clearly write:
- Null hypothesis (H₀)
- Alternative hypothesis (H₁)
- Ensure wording is precise, testable, and aligned with corresponding research questions and objectives.
Reference
- Existing research document draft with current hypotheses.
- Statistical best practices for hypothesis formulation.
Notes:
- Ensure consistency between hypothesis statements and the operational definitions of variables.
- Avoid combining multiple outcomes into a single hypothesis.
- Maintain clarity to facilitate both qualitative interpretation and quantitative testing.
