slides take a moment to render properly

I don't remember this problem from before, but when I opened a pdf today, each slide takes a moment to fully render, it's starts fuzzy and then becomes clear about a half second later. Even slides that have already loaded experience the problem.

I upgraded to the most recent release, but it didn't help. Could this have happened when I upgraded to High Sierra?

Ok, this is definitely a System PDF level bug because the same thing happens in Preview.app. Is anyone else seeing this on High Sierra? It's ugly.

I can confirm the issue but am afraid that there might not be much that I can do about it. As you say it happens in Preview as well. I'm also on High Sierra.
Anyway, I will check if there are some new setting regarding caching or similar for the PDFView.

Same problem on High Sierra, with Splitshow and Preview.app as well (but not with Acrobat Reader).

I can confirm this problem on El Captain (MacOS 10.11.6). Splitshow and Preview show both a blurred slide for <500ms before it is rendered properly. After this this particular slide is is rendered crisp clear when you go back and forth again. But all slides render fine when I open the same file in Présentation.app.

I use an old version of splitshow (Version 0.9.1) for years now und it does not have the issue running in High Sierra. Maybe it is worth looking for the differences?

That is unfortunately not possible. For the comparison (and just for it) the PDF in question was opened with the standalone Adobe Reader.
