package compatilibity issue for .net 8

I have a .net 8 project. Bu when I want to upgrade the ExcelMapper 6.x it gives the following error. I think there should be specific target for .net 8 to keep the library compatible

NU1605: Warning As Error: Detected package downgrade: System.Text.Json from 9.0.0 to 8.0.5. Reference the package directly from the project to select a different version.

When I checked the dependencies on nuget:

.NETStandard 2.0

• Microsoft.CSharp (>= 4.7.0)
• NPOI (>= 2.7.3)
• System.Text.Json (>= 9.0.0)

Dependency should be:

System.Text.Json (>= 8.0.0)
or better for fixed vulnerabilities
System.Text.Json (>= 8.0.5)

I can't repro. I don't get the error in a net8.0 project. Does your project require System.Text.Json < 9.0.0?

My Project has full dependency on .net 8 due to LTS support cycle since .net 9 support ends before .net8 LTS.
My other libraries uses System.Text.Json (>= 8.0.5).

Let me summarize problem:

Library1.dll (references new ExcelMapper v6.0.609 which uses System.Text.Json (>= 9.0.0))

App1.exe (uses package System.Text.Json (8.0.5 and references Library1.dll)

In this situation App1 cannot use Library1.dll due to the package conflict.

To resolve this issue without referencing .net 9 packages :

ExcelMapper should have dependency on System.Text.Json (>= 8.0.5),
in this case referencing project can use package either System.Text.Json (>=8.0.0) or System.Text.Json (>=9.0.0) and will not have any package compatability or compile issue.

Because my application (over 20 projects) uses .NET 8 which all libraries have version of 8.x.x.

net8.0 is supported by System.Text.Json 9.0 and up. If you have direct references to System.Text.Json 8.0 from projects in your solution you should be able to update them.
