[Feature Request] Zip support #61
Comments
i personally use ZipXtract which seems good enough for a standalone opensource solution. |
I use it too as a workaround, but it's inconvenient because it doesn't support "open with" operations, browsing for the archive for extraction directory uses the google files app instead of little file explorer, and it can't extract to an existing folder. I just think overall it would be much more convenient for "native" support in little file explorer. |
As notified above i opened an issue on the ZipXtract issue tracker regarding this problem ;) let's hope one or the other project acts and introduces a suitable feature. |
Well that was fast! the developer for ZipXtract had horgotten about about this feature and just pushed it to main. Hopefully next update we'll see it in action :) |
Describe your idea
It would be convenient if little file explorer could open or extract .zip files.
Describe why you want the idea incorprated
Unfortunately there aren't many good zip-only apps since most file explorers have built in support, so devs don't spend much time on it. I can see this being considered unnecessary bloat, but there really isn't an alternative.
[Optional] Describe any implmentations you've considered
Opening zip file could prompt to open with little file explorer, which could either open it directly (similar to windows file explorer or 7-zip gui), or extract it (similar to mac finder)
[Optional] Additional information
I think other formats aren't as important since .zip is just so much more common.
