I have made some modification to some of the tool holder designs (e.g., I've slightly modified the OT2 Pipette holder). I am wondering how we should deal with comminity modifications/upgrades to some of the 3D designs.
My proposal is to create a subfolder in each tool_library/tool_folder/ called update/ or modification/ to have a log of changes made by users. In each, we shuold have the new STL design file and a description of how it differ from the base tool part/component. We can then also have a depricated_versions/ in case a modification is "voted" to be the new base model.
I am open to suggestions or alternative ideas on how to handle that.

I think that your proposed plan (i.e. a modification/ folder alongside a short README) makes sense to me! Perhaps we can pair each modification with a github issue which starts a discussion on if the new design should be the new default, or simply be available as an alternative?
