cc -o sine.exe sine.c is already the correct syntax on current pshell. The compiler's built-in help is:

cc [-s] [-u] [-n] [-h [lib]] [-D ...] [-o filename] filename

and the implementation consumes the argument after -o as the output filename, then the final argument as the C source. With -o, it writes an executable and does not run it; without -o, cc sine.c compiles and immediately runs the program.

The important clue is therefore 12: ...: command-line parsing succeeded and the compiler is reporting line 12 of your sine.c. statement used outside function means that line was parsed at file scope where only declarations/function definitions are valid. The repository's current c-examples/sine.c has only 11 lines and ends with the closing brace of main, so the shipped file compiles as shown in the README.

Try these in order:

cc sine.c
cc -s sine.c
cc -o sine.exe sine.c
sine.exe

-s prints numbered source together with the disassembly, which will make the actual line 12 visible. If cc sine.c reports the same error, inspect the file with vi sine.c (or replace it with the current 11-line example); there is likely an extra expression/statement after main or a brace closes main too early. If it still fails with the exact repository example, please include version and lines 1–12, because that would point to a compiler/version regression rather than an invocation problem.
