Wallbox Pulsar Plus NAe — OCPP RemoteStartTransaction accepted but charge never starts

Charger: Wallbox Pulsar Plus NAe (firmware 6.7.21)
Vehicle: 2024 Kia EV9
HACS OCPP integration: Version v0.10.4
Home Assistant Core: 2025.10.1
Setup: Charger is enrolled in OCPP, shows connected in both Wallbox app and OCPP server

Problem description

• Since a recent update, I can no longer reliably start/stop charging via OCPP.
• RemoteStartTransaction is sent and the charger responds with "status": "Accepted".
• The car/charger does not begin charging unless I physically unplug/replug the connector.
• Toggling Charge Control in HA immediately flips back to “off.”
• Updating maximum current via OCPP does work consistently.
• The Wallbox portal inconsistently shows OCPP as “Disabled,” while the mobile app reports “OCPP Connected” and “Charge finished.”
• This setup worked fine before; I have tried rolling back HA/OCPP versions and even clean reinstalls, but the issue persists.

…but charging never starts.

What I’ve tried

• Rolling back HA and OCPP integration versions
• Clean reinstall of the OCPP integration
• Restarting charger + HA
• Clearing charge profiles
• Unplugging/replugging vehicle (only reliable way to get a session to begin)

Anyone have any suggestions?

I tested the same Wallbox Pulsar Plus with both this Home Assistant OCPP integration and EVCC’s OCPP server. EVCC is able to start charging but EVCC is unable to change the charge current.

These issues across two different OCPP servers make it look like a Wallbox firmware issue rather than a CSMS bug.

You need to unlock it first. Then you can enable Charge Control

Do you have any update? I have a Wallbox Pulsar Max which using the EVCC's OCPP server is working randomly meaning that sometimes instead of setting the charge current with the evcc value, is using the max current allowed. Also, disable is working randomly, sometimes is working, sometimes not. I am thinking to use the HA OCPP integration, but reading your post, I started to doubt that will work.

I gave up on the Wallbox units. I switched to OpenEVSE, and it works much better. I don't even need to use OCPP since it has better integration with HomeAssistant. OpenEVSE also has a built in solar charging module that uses MQTT messages indicating available power to charge. This has significantly simplified my excess solar charging.

I'm afraid I've already made the mistake of buying two and it's too late to give up unless I want to throw the money away. I couldn't imagine a well-known brand having such poor firmware. Anyway, thanks for the advice!

Wish I had better news. I have two as well, and I am selling them on OfferUp. It sucks.
