How to customize node-specific advanced parameters

Is there a doc somplace for that nodes.yaml file?

I'm looking for a way to change some of the advanced options (e.g. i want to add -Djava.io.tmpdir=/path/to/tmp to JVM options, and/or want to add a nice -19 prefix when starting java
