The last commit was two years ago, many files haven't been changed for around five years, and even basic issues like making playlists searchable (#729) haven't been implemented for over 3.5 years.
The app seems to be fairly popular and for a common use-case (playing music): why is nobody adopting the repo and/or starts making pull-requests that closes some issues?
What are the alternatives to the app, is there any stable open source music player for Android that is better than Phonograph? I only know of Shuttle and Timber. TimberX so far isn't as good as Phonograph and has fewer features. So currently the best option seems to be Shuttle...is there are comparison between the two and are there other music players that are as good? https://github.com/timusus/Shuttle The problem is that it isn't actively developed either (last commit 3 years ago).
Here is a fork of Phonograph that's more active: should people switch to it? If so, it probably should be linked in the readme here and issues from here should get copied there. https://github.com/AdrienPoupa/VinylMusicPlayer
Other alternatives I found (a comparison would be useful): Vanilla Music Player, Simple-Music-Player, Odyssey Music Player, BlackHole.
