K8gb does not work with cert-manager for automated cert-renewal

When I introduce K8GB to the mix, I can no longer perform DNS challenges and obtain certificates for any subdomain managed by K8GB in Route 53. I have delegated prod.example.com to K8GB, and now whenever I create an Ingress resource, it fails the DNS challenges. Is there any workaround for `this?
