The svg logo renders text as generic "serif"

The spec says Roboto, but, the text in the SVG logo is rendered as a generic "serif" font for some reason.

It doesn't look that bad for me in Chromium with latest Debian. Might need a screenshot to show the issue. Maybe this just depends if your browser has access to the proper font? I'm not sure how to provide good looking font fallbacks for SVG images used in a web page. I made that logo with Inkscape and used an already installed font that wasn't too obscure and looked good enough. If someone with better font skills knows what to do in this situation, please advise and the SVGs can be changed.

It certainly does not look bad, no, but it's different from the Roboto baked into the png logo.

I wonder if there is a way to simply specify a fallback font, in the svg code, so it falls back to a sans-serif, similarly to what one can do with font-family in css.

Ok, the svg is just a big text file and uses font-family, so, this can be specified.

I'm going to install roboto locally so I can see it how it's supposed to look, but a fallback might be Arial or simply sans-serif.

Not sure if that's the best way to do it, but, it works to make Arial display for me, for this svg, since I don't have Roboto installed.

(Then again I could just stop being so stubborn and link the png file, but I like svg's :)

@davidlehn - Looks like you can force the issue by adding an import css command, to bring the right stylesheet in from google fonts. See the bottom of this stack exchange:

I am also sure you could subset the font, and include the characters in base-64 and load that. My designer did that before, with some Japanese fonts I needed, because they are so darned large to load over the web.
