DOSBox-X version 2022.09.0 SDL1, copyright 2011-2022 The DOSBox-X Team.

Tried many different versions and flavors of first NFS and either it crashes or hangs (division with zero, default S3 card; hangs with ET4000 - regardless if univbe ran before) when starting a race or it simply hangs Dosbox before the menu appears (CDROM, SE version).

Any guidance? Is this a known problem with M1 dosbox-x?

Try with last version and see if that changes anything: DOSBox-X nightly builds 🌃🛠

@aybe , @Torinde , @wojteeek I deleted my post from yesterday because I found the culprit: the CD-ROM ISO I had was probably corrupted.

I downloaded a new CUE-BIN image and compared the MD5 hashes with UltraISO and found several files with different hashes, including the NFS_DOS.EXE executable: the correct one has the checksum 44224e2932cfd3d448b7362675dff895.

Now the game works perfectly, just add the line "allow low resolution vesa modes = false" under the [video] section of the dosbox-x.conf file before installation, no need for UniVBE or changing the default emulated graphics card.

Version downloaded from eXoDOS works without any problems with default settings. I didn't change anything.

nfs.dosbox-x.default.webm

For machine=svga_et4000, use univbe.

nfs.dosbox-x.svga_et4000.webm
