Marketplace Install Not working

What happened?

I tried to install the plugin via

/plugin install ai-ready@awesome-copilot
/plugin install ai-ready@johnpapa

Both commands fail.

Installing with source of awesome-copilot fails as:

 Failed to install plugin: Failed to fetch GitHub plugin johnpapa/ai-ready: Error: Command failed: git clone --depth 1 --progress --branch

Installing with source of johnpapa fails as:

✗ Failed to install plugin: Marketplace "johnpapa" not found

Expected behavior

Either command would install plugin

Tried the same installing from VSCode

I got pretty much the same error as the already mentioned one with the same sha

I guess is that `--branch` part of the command that is causing the problem, because [the commit effectively is present](https://github.com/johnpapa/ai-ready/commit/b993d6512c918d8a21a61b7931726f5980c3c920), but isn't a branch

Ok, it's because of an issue with the marketplace.
What people is doing for other plugins is to use a tag name instead of the sha

Thanks for the report and for digging into the SHA-vs-tag behavior — that was exactly the right clue.

I fixed the repo-side part in johnpapa/ai-ready: the plugin manifest metadata is aligned again, and I added a CI guard so the skill version and plugin manifest version can't drift going forward.

What remains is the external marketplace entry in github/awesome-copilot, since that registry was still pointing ai-ready at a commit SHA instead of a tag. I opened github/awesome-copilot#2349 to switch the marketplace entry to a tag-based ref and align its version metadata. Once that PR is merged by the Awesome Copilot maintainers, ai-ready@awesome-copilot should install normally again.

Direct install from this repo remains the canonical working path:

copilot plugin install johnpapa/ai-ready
