MPP Solar U5648MS support #525
Comments
Hi
Thanks for the feedback
The --getStatus runs 2 commands for the PI30 protocol. QPIGS and Q1 (as
these give most of the things that you'd want) and unfortunately Q1 is
essentially undocumented - so the unknown values are for responses from the
inverter that are not defined in the PI30 protocol definition of Q1
You could try the PI30MAX protocol (which has different slightly
definitions and is suited to some inverters)
eg
`mpp-solar -p /dev/hidraw1 -c Q1 -P PI30MAX`

I wanted to let you know that this tool appears to work well with the
U5648MS inverter from MPP Solar, and I suspect would work with the rest of
the U****MS series also. I'm using the tool in a venv on Ubuntu 22.04
(technically Kubuntu, but functionally the same) with Python 3.10.
Below is the output from $ mpp-solar -p /dev/hidraw1 -c QPI followed by
the output from $ mpp-solar -p /dev/hidraw1 --getstatus. I'm not sure
what's causing the "unknown_value_in_response_XX" messages, if you have any
pointers on what I should be investigating I'm happy to take a look.
